Here we are. You and I. The lowest of the low. I'm an American writing a Starbucks review on Yelp. And just to clarify again, a Starbucks review in the UK, and I'm from Idaho...
I have the nerve to visit an entirely new continent and an entirely new country and sit myself down in my disgustingly comfortable comfort zone, and write a yelp review in my vernacular.
Is the coffee here better than the Starbucks in the states? Couldn't tell you. I've learned to shut my tastebuds off when I'm at Starbucks and it's so hardwired into my system I haven't the slightest chance to navigate around it. I CAN tell you this Starbucks gets 5 stars for having hazelnut sweetener and a lovely-lovely staff who made me feel welcome. I even got to hear my name, "Justin," with a slight English accent. Beautiful.
That's another reason why it gets 5 stars. Because I got everything an American could want upon visiting London, to hear various words said with an accent without having to leave my precious comfort zone; and to see things that other people have seen, post it on Instagram, and pretend for a moment that I matter to someone somewhere presumably, and that for some reason my visit to some iconic location means something special.
Pret A Manger? Whaaa??? What's THAT you're saying?! NO thank you. I'll stick to what I know, and drink what I know, and speak how I know, until I die where I know but probably not knowing how...
Thanks for being here Starbucks. I'll see you when I get back to the states. I'll see you everywhere. Literally everywhere. Like you're stalking me. -

Gotta leave it to starbucks... their pretty good people nursing a coffee to use the bathroom and wait for a business meeting.
Nice location... the baristas were very friendly. And nobody seemed to mind that I sat on a stool for an hour because I was early for a meeting.
That gets 5* in my book! -

Not my favourite... Have visited them a few times and was disappointed almost every-time.
The layout and setup is not working for me... Every staff member seem to do only one thing, only problem when a customer is slow the whole production line breaks downs.
The shop is tired and dark, never sat down but would not be surprised is it is dirty. They also have nowhere to sit outside, forcing the customers to sit on the pavement in front of the shop. See one of my picks... -

The normal Starbucks you get everywhere. I used the phone app to order ahead and skip the queue, and voila, the drink was already made and ready to takeaway from their barrista. Points for me. Chai latte was perfect!
And yes, as per normal for lunch in this business district, it was packed. -

Wandering the streets of Londontown, here's Starbucks! You can't beat it for location - it's right across from Farringdon Station. Compared to many in the UK, this is quite a large shop with a decent sized ground floor seating area and then a large area downstairs.
As with most, coolers of pastries and cold drinks and sandwiches. Yep, they'll toast the sandwiches in the panini press.
Baristas are unusually polite and efficient in this shop on a mid-day lunch time. My short double skinny latte with hazelnut was ready in an instant without me having to repeat myself.
As mentioned, lots of tables and many power outlets. Free wi-fi works wekk.
